Hiring Trends in multi-family

Over the past six to eight months, we’ve noticed a significant trend toward a candidate centric market. Prior to that, property management companies could take their sweet time in making hiring decisions knowing the waiting candidate really didn’t have many other alternatives. The pendulum has swung the other way. In todays environment, candidates have more alternatives and we’ve noticed that in some cases, companies who are too deliberate in their hiring process are losing the really good candidates to more aggressive organizations. We would be interested in hearing about your experiences in this area.

Meet my team
In this inaugural posting, I want to introduce our team at The Cromwell Group. I’m very fortunate in having team members who are not only great employees, but really fun people as well. You can go to our website at http://www.cromwellgroup-mri.com/ to see their pictures but I thought I’d give you a snapshot about each one.

Jeff Harr is our most senior person. Jeff has been with me since January 2004. Prior to joining us, he spent 15 years in the multi-family property management business working for The Lane Company in Atlanta in many different capacities. Jeff loves the recruiting business because it builds upon his background in multi-family and help clients and candidates attain their goals and objectives. Jeff is married to my daughter and has provided me with two wonderful grandchildren. Jeff’s hobbies include golf, dancing, reading, and all sports, but especially Georgia football.

Scott Gleason joined our team in March of 2005 and has enjoyed a lot of success working with clients and candidates in the Mid-Atlantic states. Before his current position, he recruited for a large Insurance company in West Virginia. Scott and his wife Katie have two daughters. Scott is also a sports enthusiast; in his younger years, he was a top-notch competitive swimmer, baseball & basketball player, and golfer. He follows West Virginia football enthusiastically.

Jan Cromwell is an integral part of our team. She is the person you talk to when you first call in. She handles all the administative and generally keeps the guys in line. Jan is my wife of 42 years and is part owner of the business.
